Martial was an unused sub by Jose Mourinho for Manchester United’s 2-1 Super Cup defeat to Real Madrid on Tuesday and has been linked with a loan move to Inter Milan.
The 21-year-old has performed well in pre-season with assists against Real Madrid and Valerenga.
But he has struggled to gain Mourinho’s trust regularly and it appears clubs are ready to take advantage.
According to French outlet RMC Sport, Spurs made an offer for Martial however it was rejected by United.
Spurs are yet to make any signings so far in the transfer window which led to Danny Rose calling on the club to bring in marquee names to bolster the team.
But it seems Mourinho is still counting on Martial and ahead of the season, the United boss mentioned the French attacker among the options he wants in forward positions.
Mourinho said: “We need options and different players. Lukaku, Martial and Rashford are all different and we need everybody, and it’s going to be good.
“It’s going to be fun to choose the team for every match, according to the plan, the opponent, so the squad is good.”
