The 42-year-old, who spent seven years in the profession, spent one summer studying constitutional law in the US, which she admitted was a very dangerous occupation.
As Susan pursued a case, she arranged to meet with a woman at a Virginia Holiday Inn for questioning but things quickly got out of hand.
The client she met with was a prison guard who was accused of sleeping with an inmate and was not impressed with the star’s probing.
“We were asking questions she felt uncomfortable with, and she said she had a gun under the table and I should stop,” Susan explained.
“We left. Of course you will leave, very quickly.”
But that wasn’t the only time, the presenter found herself threatened with a gun as she went on to tell the Daily Mirror: “We also tried to visit a trailer park and someone shot a gun to tell us they didn’t want to speak.
“I had never experienced guns before but there, everyone had guns. It is not something we experience here.”
Last week on Strictly Come Dancing Susan became emotional when she believed she would face the dreaded dance-off after her Wonder Woman themed Samba.
On Saturday night she is set to perform the Quickstep to Bring Me Sunshine by The Jive Aces with professional partner Kevin Clifton.
The song was also her first dance at her 2012 wedding to lawyer Lee Cormack.
