Paul Daniels’ widow has been unable to practise her lifts for the BBC show with partner Giovanni Pernice after hurting her back.
The 59-year-old has admitted that she was even unable to get up about her seat after rehearsing ahead of her Salsa to I Can’t Take My Eyes Off Of You by Boys Town Gang.
Speaking about the routine, Debbie commented: “Our narrative for the salsa is that I’m an optician and I’m giving Giovanni an eye test. I’ve had to work much harder with this dance.
“The hip wiggle is a figure of eight and you’ve got to make sure that the fringing on your dress moves about!”
However, Debbie continued: “We’ve got three lifts, but I’ve injured my back again so we haven’t been able practice them much.
“I couldn’t even get up out of a chair earlier in the week. But that’s the Strictly journey I suppose,” during an interview with the Daily Telegraph.
Debbie, who was given the maximum 40 points for her the Tango last Saturday, went on to address Aston’s controversial elimination after a dance off with Mollie King.
“There was absolute horror when they announced that Aston was in the dance-off,” she said. “The studio went completely quiet. Because he was so good, the viewers thought that he was safe.
“The judges score on pure technique and they have a knowledge that we don’t. Mollie improved her technique in the dance-off and so that’s why head judge Shirley [Ballas] saved her.”
Strictly Come Dancing 2017 continues tomorrow at 6.45pm on BBC One.
