Hotels can hide a multitude of secrets, from reheated food to dirty linen.
Insiders have revealed the certain things you shouldn’t do in a hotel to avoid the germ-ridden spots.
It was recently revealed why the TV remote was one of the worst places for bacteria.
Now even the chair within a hotel room should be avoided.
User Jenna told Women’s Health Mag: “Never sit on a couch or chair without laying a towel or sheet down first.
“Many guests sit on them naked, and yes, some leave stains behind.
“And much of the time, the stains are basically just dabbed with cleaner until they can’t be seen anymore.”
If needing to sit down, some plastic sheeting may be better, but the towels are one of the things that do get cleaned regularly.
Sitting on a hotel chair can also cause another problem.
It could contain bed bugs, which could then be brought back after being carried from the hotel guest to their home.
Instead, beds and seats should be checked for any signs such as brown flecks for the critters.
With a rise in pest-control call outs for bed bugs, they can very easily be spread among travellers in hotels.
A shocking amount of people also sleep in hotel beds naked.
Furniture Choice examined hotel occupancy stats over seven years, finding that an average of 1,891 people will have slept on the hotel mattress.
In London, that figure rises to a whopping 2,099 people.
Of those asked, 537 people admitted to sleeping without any clothes in the hotel bed, which can affect the mattress underneath.
