New PUBG Xbox One updates will be coming soon but there’s one that could prove very popular with fans.
Bluehole Inc. have confirmed that they hope to create a cohesive crossplay environment for the game, essentially meaning Xbox and PC players.
While this might seem a long way off, there are a few updates along the way that could help with that transition.
PlayerUnknown himself – Brendan Greene – has confirmed that Cross platform games are still in mind, although there will be hurdles.
Both Greene and Microsoft have talked about there being a single version of the game via cross-play between different PC machines and home consoles.
“We’re still discussing that,” he told MCV.
“Because they’re such equal versions of the game, we want the ability for both platforms to play against each other.
“We love that idea, but we have to do it in a fair way. We’re maybe looking at keyboard and mouse versus keyboard and mouse, or controller vs controller.
“We don’t know yet, we’re still talking to Microsoft.”
And that’s where the next big PUBG Xbox One update could appear, with Microsoft edging closer to providing new keyboard and mouse support for the Xbox.
Microsoft Poland seemingly confirmed plans to make mouse and keyboard support available for Xbox One consoles quite soon.
The leaked post has since been deleted, but the wording suggests mouse and keyboard support is imminent.
“Some players prefer to conquer the virtual world with a pad in hand,” the translated post reads (via Windows Latest).
“Others, above all, value the precision of the mouse movements. Others, however, can not imagine playing on anything other than a keyboard.
“Now, owners of Xbox One consoles (including Xbox One S models and the latest Xbox One X) can choose these accessories and decide for themselves what they will use.”
And as you can imagine, PUBG on Xbox One is going to be one of the main games that benefits.
A new PUBG PS4 release date update surfaced this week, revealing just how long fans might be left waiting on the popular PlayStation console.
Right now, the PC and the Xbox One is the only place to play Battlegrounds – but that could all change later this year.
Chang Han Kim, the CEO of PUBG developer PUBG Corp, gave a boost to PS4 and Nintendo Switch fans hoping for a Battlegrounds release.
He said that he hopes PUBG will one day be available on “every platform”.
Speaking to InvenGlobal, he said: “As it’s going to be an exclusive title on Xbox One for some time, we’d like to focus on completing the Xbox One PUBG for now.
“If we have the opportunity, the final goal would be to launch the title on every platform.”
However, as noted above, it appears PUBG won’t be arriving on PS4, or any other platform, until the Xbox One version has reached an almost complete stage.
Kim also discussed whether it was possible to release the early access version of PUBG on PS4.
And his response was telling, explaining how Microsoft were more flexible about what build could be released on their consoles.
Kim said: “Early Access on Steam and Game Preview on Xbox One are like pre-release, so they don’t have a restriction on quality.
“However, PS is very strict about this. There were cases where a game took six months more to launch even when it was already completed.
“We are still in the stage of learning the console development environment and console gamers’ taste.
“We need to think about other platforms after evaluating and completing the Xbox One version first.”
