Momoa cuts quite a scary figure at 6’4 and stacked with muscles and tattoos.
The giant star didn’t hold back when he reveals which Justice League hero is a bit of an “a**hole” but the identity of the difficut DC icon may surprise fans.
The former Game of Thrones star was at a major Justice League press conference when he spilled the beans on working on the upcoming comicbook blockbuster.
He also revealed that his love of childish pranks drove one co-star a little crazy.
Momoa told the audience his primary fears about playing Aquaman: “The one thing that was really concerning when I did my homework, I knew that [Justice League] would be basically a weekend in his life. And I just want to make sure that the fans knew that this gruff character, this man who lives within the tides and is not really accepted in two different places… we needed to know where he came from and why he’s this grumpy, bit of an asshole to Batman.”
The star revealed that his own standalone movie next year would be a powerful and emotional look at one of the least-understood heroes.
He added: “I want people to know that in a year you’re going to understand where he came from, what happened to his mother, what happened to his father, and how he was treated in this world, and how he didn’t know how to use his powers.
“Sometimes he saved people, and sometimes he lost people, and his human side didn’t know how to deal with those things. And he would cover up those things, and so he’s hiding behind… there’s a lot of layers to this guy, and I think once we get to the solo film you’re going to see the man who is going to take responsibility and help the world and become king, eventually.”
“So this one, I don’t really think… he is Aquaman, he’s Arthur Curry. But he hasn’t dealt with the Trident yet. And it’s coming, but just stick with it. But for people who are like, ‘That’s not my Aquaman!’ Just wait a little bit longer. Just stick with it for a little bit longer.”
On a lighter note, Momoa admitted he had a lot of fun on the Justice League set messing with Ben Affleck’s costume.
Momoa said: I’m a bit of a big kid, and I kind of geeked out just walking around Ben [Affleck] and pulling on his cape. It’s just surreal that I’m even here playing this guy and around these guys. When you see us all up there, you’ll feel the same way!”
Luckily there was no need for a Sadffleck moment…
Affleck himself, showed his own lighter side when he told the audience: “And I was like, “Who the f*** keeps pulling on my cape?”
