The Duchess of Cambridge was said to be “obsessed” with the diet before her wedding by Cosmopolitan magazine, although Kate herself never spoke out about her diet plan.
According to Woman Magazine, 35-year-old Kate enjoys a smoothie with berries and almond milk when she fancies something sweet, and Delish reported the Duchess has tired the raw food trend.
Is Meghan Markle adopting the same diet in the run-up to her wedding to Prince Harry in May?
What is the Dukan diet?
The Dukan diet involves eating in a number of phases.
Healthline said of the diet: “There are four phases on the Dukan Diet: two weight loss phases and two maintenance phases.
“The diet starts by calculating your “true” weight, based on your age, weight loss history and other factors.
“How long you stay in each phase depends on how much weight you need to lose to reach your ‘true’ weight.”
To follow the diet you need to complete an attack phase, eating just protein and oat bran, followed by a cruise phrase with lean protein, vegetables and oat bran, then a consolidation phase with some carbs and fats, and a stabilisation phrase with more oat bran.
The diet is somewhat similar to the popular keto diet, as they are both low carb.
The plan is said to cause fast weight loss while allowing dieters to remain satisfied, thanks to a large amount of fat in the diet.
The diet sends the body into a state of ketosis, when the body burns fat for energy, instead of carbohydrates.
It is not known whether she is dieting for her wedding, but one detail of Meghan Markle’s wedding is thought to be likely.
Experts say that Meghan will probably not sign a prenup. Kate and William did not have a prenuptial agreement before they married, news confirmed on 1 May 2011.
What will Meghan Markle’s title be when she marries Harry?
Meghan could technically become a princess after marrying Harry and could be known as HRH Princess Henry of Wales, using her husband’s name.
