Ben (played by Harry Reid) is shaken to hear that Luke’s (Adam Astill) father, James Willmott-Brown (William Boyde), raped Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth) leaving him desperate to seek revenge.
He soon learns that James wants to meet him and despite Kathy’s pleas, he angrily confronts him – but how far will Ben go?
In first-look images from the explosive scenes, Ben can be seen waving a hammer in James’ face suggesting he is planning to hurt him.
Will the mechanic murder James and could this mark the start of his departure storyline?
It comes as actress Gillian told Express.co.uk: “The episode was quite dark and then the aftermath of all that. Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) and Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) get involved and I can’t tell you anymore than that!
“It was very difficult at first because I didn’t know anything about it. I just knew I had a storyline but I didn’t know what it was. Then I came into reception one day and saw William Boyde sitting there and I just screamed.
“We learnt what it was all about. So the 25 years had gone, it didn’t matter anymore. It was quite weird to go back to that time really. Jacqueline Jossa said to me, ‘You must look at the original scene’ and I’d forgotten all about it.
“So I went back to it and I saw it on YouTube and it was quite dark and eery.”
Gillian praised the team behind the James and Kathy confrontation episodes, and gushed that EastEnders would be “returning to how it should be”.
She added: “It’s a brilliant, brilliant episode. It’s wonderfully written by Rob Gittins, one of our wonderful writers. It’s a really great episode. Will and I took a long time.
“We had a great director Kate Saxon who took us through it all, because it was hard to do, but I think, I hope…well I enjoyed doing it and I hope people enjoyed watching it.”
