The couple, who married in 2010, reportedly sealed the deal after impressing TV bosses with their documentary The Seven Year Itch and their impressive sense of humour on This Morning.
A TV insider reportedly told The Sun: “Eamonn and Ruth are a top presenting team so it’s no surprise there’s plenty of interest from TV producers.
“The show is at the pilot stage but there’s confidence within Channel 5 that it will become a full series. It’s an exciting time.”
According to the publication, the name of the show is still being decided but bosses are drawn towards the title What A Week With Eamonn & Ruth.
The TV veterans regularly impress viewers with their on-screen banter when they co-host the ITV morning show each week.
Their most recent encounter saw the pair discuss divorce as the show’s agony aunt Deidre Sanders revealed that January was the month where couples were most likely to split.
Eamon, 58, said to his wife Ruth, 57: “I think this would solve all my problems, I don’t like dishes, I don’t like doing washing up and that sort of thing.
“So I think, especially if we go through divorce January, I would take the pressure cooker.”
Ruth swiftly replied: “Off you go.”
Former Sky News host Eamonn was recently awarded with an OBE for his 40 years in the broadcast industry, but claimed Ruth may not be able to attend the presentation ceremony due to a strict two-guest limit.
Speaking on Good Morning Britain, he said: “My daughter loves the royals so I’d like her to be there. My son Jack wanted to be there too. So Ruth might have to stand aside — and she would do that. “It’d be nice to have three, that would settle it. But I really need about 17 I think.”
