Seb (played by Harry Visinoni) was forced to witness his mum Abby (Sally Carman) overdose on heroin and then see his twin siblings get taken away by social services on tonight’s harrowing instalment of the ITV soap.
Anna Windass (Debbie Rush) has become intent on helping the troubled 16-year-old and his family for weeks now, often looking after the younger children when their mother was unable to.
But as the story came to a head tonight, Seb ended up accusing his girlfriend Faye’s (Ellie Leach) mother of being the one to report his mother’s overdose to the police and social services.
As fans watched the heartbreaking scenes, they took to Twitter express their upset.
“Fantastic acting by the young lad who plays Seb in @itvcorrie Crying my eyes out – what a sad storyline,” one person wrote.
Another said: “Oh Seb #Corrie my heart is in bits here @itvcorrie”
“Incredibly moving scenes in @itvcorrie Not seen the like for many years. Well done #Corrie that was REAL TV for the first time in DECADES!!” A third viewer agreed.
“Corrie what are you doing to me?!! I’m nearly 40 weeks pregnant and you’re making me sob. Poor Seb!! #corrie #coronationstreet,” one person added.
Meanwhile, some people couldn’t cope with the intensity of the storyline, as one person commented: “How ridiculously depressing are all of the #Corrie storylines now?! Sad, gone down the route of all soaps. #coronationstreet.”
“This is the most depressing storyline ever. It puts me off watching,” another said.
Coronation Street continues Wednesday at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
