The character, played by Scarlett Johansson, has long been touted for her own adventure, but it has never materialised.
However, speaking on a panel in Brisbane, Lee seemingly gave away that it will happen.
“One day there will be a Black Widow movie,” he said, according to ComicBook.com.
Nothing else is known beyond that one comment, but one person who’s said they’re up for directing is Taika Waititi, fresh from Thor: Ragnarok.
“In all honesty, I reckon I could probably bring something pretty unique to any of the franchises,” he declared.
“So I’d love to see Black Widow. Black Widow as something crazy and a bit funnier than we expect it to be.
“Because we know her story, and it’s very sullen and very dark and her history is very dark.
“But! What’s the funny version of that? What’s the more entertaining version of that?”
Black Widow will, in the meantime, next be seen in Avengers: Infinity War – due next spring.
The character will presumably then be seen in Avengers 4, officially as-yet-untitled, the following year.
Johansson has played her since 2010.
